Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Located at ORTHOPEDIC HOSPITAL

Ozark, MO

Part Time

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required. You may be asked to provide proof of education.   
Licensure: Non-certified applicants may be considered for this position with acceptable surgical technology experience.  
Experience: non-certified applicants may be considered for this position with acceptable surgical technology experience.  

Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.   
Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.  

Communication Management
- Listens to physicians and communicates need to circulator in advance (anticipates).
- Anticipates needs of surgeon by paying attention and responding appropriately.
- Recognizes and reports emergency situations.
- Communicates with physician, confirms correct specimen and disposition to circulator (under the direction of physician.
- Communicates delays or completion before scheduled time to circulator to ensure efficient room utilization or schedule changes.
- Communicates instrument and equipment problems to appropriate team member and identifies repair needs according to policy.

Technology
- Demonstrates competence in initiating and maintaining use of routine equipment and procedures.
- Performs technical skills relative to specific specialties i.e., assembling instrumentation and equipment (retractors, power equipment, etc.)
- Assists in evaluation of new products, equipment, policies, procedures and standard
- Fills out appropriate paperwork to assist with decisions.

Stewardship Awareness
- Plans, organizes and evaluates work activities appropriately.
- Works efficiently and quickly producing high quality work.
- Conserves resources and watches for a better way to complete work.

Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
