Internship Accounting

Job Description

The Accounting intern will work directly with our accounting team, reporting to the Office Manager who oversees Accounts and Receivables. Learn hands on basics and process familiarization within our organization. This Internship is scheduled for 10 weeks during the summer of 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with Heartland Market process and systems.
  • Be able to learn the Bunzl systems related to the accounting field. 
  • Spend time one on one time with various departments to better learn the business. 
  • Contacting customers regarding outstanding account balances. 
  • Become proficient in the AS400 system
  • Backup support for other AR clerks when needed. 
  • Ability to multi-task projects and meet deadlines. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and pursuing a bachelor's degree
  • Must possess strong planning, organizational and time management skills, as well as strong problem solving skills
  • A proven ability to organize, prioritize, and successfully manage multiple and shifting priorities, projects, and deadlines
  • Proven self-starter with strong work ethic, self-motivated, resourceful, conscientious, punctual and energetic
  • A professional phone manner and ability to interact professionally with staff
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
