Employment Law Attorney Requirements & Qualifications


  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar license in good standing
  • Minimum 3 years of California plaintiff-side employment law or employment litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a single-plaintiff caseload
  • Direct experience handling discrimination, retaliation, or wrongful termination cases
  • Experience litigating in California Superior Courts and U.S. District Courts
  • Excellent client communication and organizational skills


Employment Law Attorney Preferred Background & Skills


  • Trial preparation or trial experience
  • Experience in high-growth or fast-moving law firms
  • Spanish-speaking ability


Employment Law Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Manage California plaintiff-side employment matters from intake through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery for state and federal court cases
  • Conduct and defend depositions under the California Code of Civil Procedure
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Appear at mediations, settlement conferences, and hearings
  • Prepare cases for arbitration and trial in various California forums
  • Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and subject matter experts
