Leidos Defense is seeking a Field Support Team (FST) Manager to support operations in Virginia Beach, VA.
Program Overview:
The Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) mission delivers on-demand, mobile, active and passive maritime surveillance capabilities in support of Joint and Naval Task Force commanders. Utilizing advanced towed acoustic sensor systems, SURTASS vessels are engineered for extended, independent operations in remote maritime environments.
Position Summary:
The SURTASS Field Support Team Manager will lead a team of intermediate-level technicians responsible for the installation, retrofit, testing, maintenance, and repair of SURTASS systems across all assigned vessels. This role ensures operational readiness and technical excellence in support of mission-critical maritime surveillance activities.
Primary Responsibilities.
Manage staffing, qualifying, training, and execution of Intermediate level maintenance of all SURTASS mission systems
Maintain the FSTs in a state of preparedness that shall ensure the Government a readiness posture capable of responding to SURTASS operational tasking, routine preventative maintenance, and expeditious repair of failed equipment both CONUS and OCONUS, in port and at sea
Generate reports for SURTASS mission systems status as directed by the Government
Identify maintenance knowledge gaps for contract personnel and author curriculum to address deficiencies
Development and maintenance of the Maintenance Integrated Master Schedule
Monitor certifications and performance, ensuring adherence to standards, policies, guidelines, and contract requirements
Enforces quality standards throughout all elements of program performance, identifies non-conformities, and participates in corrective actions
Develop, plan, coordinate, and integrate related requirements to support operational needs
Develop briefs, procedures, and processes
Identifies programmatic risks and opportunities and develops solutions to achieve mission
Interfaces with customers and program stakeholders
Basic Qualifications.
Must have at least an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or be a graduate of US Navy electronics “C” school or equivalent civilian electronics technical school. Curriculum must have dealt directly with industrial maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of secure networks and communications systems, navigations systems, and sonar surveillance systems.
Ten (10) years of progressive work experience in a Navy life cycle sustainment program with personnel supervision responsibilities, and familiarity with C4I technologies and sonar maintenance.
Must have at least five (5) years of supervisor experience that includes:
Manpower planning
Shipboard technical support management
Maintenance scheduling for in-port periods
Administration of personnel performance and qualification currency
Task management, scheduling, reporting and tracking FST technical requirements described in this SOW
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
5 years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of complex Navy Systems.
Experience working with teams in a dynamic, complex operational environment
Top Secret clearance is required to start
Preferred Qualifications.
Eight (8) years of combined experience in the maintenance and repair of SURTASS PROCESSING Subsystems, SURTASS COMMs subsystems, and/or SURTASS arrays. Experience in all three of these areas, versus one or two, is highly desirable.
SURTASS PROCESSING SUBSYSTEM includes: ICP, UNIX, LINUX, Windows, ORACLE, COMPOSE, GCCS-M, GPS (Commercial and MIL-STD),
Bathythermograph/Sound Velocimeter, Mechanical and Ring Laser Gyro, TTTS, and/or PC Test Set;
SURTASS COMMs SUBSYSTEM includes: SHF, UHF SATCOM and LOS, HF,
NOW, IFF, SECURE VOICE and DATA CRYPTOs, CMS, EKMS, KMI, SIPRNET,
ADNS/CFCP, and/or NIPRNET; iii. SURTASS ARRAYS includes: TL-29A Twinline and Single line, LFA, CLFA, and/or HFM3.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
