Job Summary and Qualifications
The VAD/Solid Organ Transplant Coordinator is a registered nurse who plans, coordinates and implements the care of the solid organ transplant/VAD patient as applicable in both the in-patient and out-patient settings in accordance with the nursing process.
What you will do in this role:
- The scope of the role includes acting as liaison with the organ procurement organization and the OPTN, assessing human, financial and material resources of patients and families
- Coordinating information flow among medical, ancillary, nursing, financial and insurance company staff
- Representing the VAD and transplant program through involvement in hospital and community activities
- Coordinator acts as a resource for the VAD INTERMACS data base and transplant statistical database
- Call coverage
- Key educator for the Transplant/VAD program
- Community Outreach
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
- 2 years of critical care experience required
- One-year experience in management of organ failure/transplant patients preferred
- VAD experience preferred
