Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical (Day Shift)

Schedule & Shift Information
• Full‑Time | 36 hours per week
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Three (3) twelve‑hour shifts per week
• Self‑Scheduling available

Sign‑On Bonus
• Up to $10,000 for Experienced Registered Nurses
• Up to $5,000 for New Graduate Registered Nurses (less than one year of experience)

Relocation Assistance
• Up to $3,000 available for eligible out‑of‑state candidates relocating to the St. Louis, MO area to join Mercy Hospital South

Benefits Available Day One
• Paid time off starting at up to 24 days in your first year, increasing to 34 days with tenure
(up to 440 hours rollover)

Position Details:

About the Unit — Medical 7W

Medical 7W cares for adult patients with common diagnoses including cellulitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, gastrointestinal issues, COPD exacerbations, and medically stable COVID patients. This unit helps build strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, acute medical care, and fast-paced patient management.

Overview

The Medical‑Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care using the nursing process while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include coordinating care across departments, maintaining patient safety and confidentiality, and delivering compassionate care consistent with Mercy’s mission and values.

This role offers a strong clinical foundation for nurses who value variety, teamwork, and continued skill development.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
    (or within 30 days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Prior hospital or acute‑care nursing experience
  • Specialty certifications

New graduate nurses are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and assist up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and assist patients safely
