Registered Nurse (RN), Psychiatry
Job Description
PURPOSE
The Registered Nurse (RN), Psychiatry provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in an outpatient setting, ensuring high-quality care and patient satisfaction. Reporting to the Clinic Supervisor, the RN collaborates closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and administrative staff. Key responsibilities include patient assessments, administering medications, coordinating care plans, and educating patients and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Assessment and Care Planning
• Conducts initial patient assessments and obtains medical histories.
• Develops and implements individualized care plans.
• Monitors patient progress and adjusts care plans as needed.
Medication Administration
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments.
• Ensures proper dosage and compliance with treatment regimens.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions and reports findings.
Patient Education
• Educates patients and their families about medical conditions and treatment options.
• Provides guidance on self-care techniques and preventive health measures.
• Conducts follow-up education sessions as needed.
Clinical Procedures
• Performs minor medical procedures such as wound care and suture removal.
• Assists physicians with diagnostic tests and minor surgeries.
• Prepares and maintains sterile environments for procedures.
Documentation and Coordination
• Documents patient care in electronic health records (EHR).
• Coordinates with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care.
• Manages patient appointments and follow-up care
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
- At least 1 year(s) of experience in outpatient or clinical setting.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- At least 2 year(s) of experience in healthcare environment
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Salary Range
$82,000+ depending on qualifications
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT
• Standard office equipment
• Repetitive use of a keyboard
• May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients, or others
