Job Details

The Tax Senior Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing complex tax engagements, managing key client relationships, and driving team performance. This position requires a balance of advanced technical expertise, strategic advisory capabilities, and strong leadership skills. You will work closely with firm leadership to deliver high-quality client outcomes while contributing to operational and growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management & Advisory

Lead multiple high-level tax engagements across corporate, partnership, and individual clients
Deliver strategic tax planning and advisory services tailored to client needs
Review complex federal, state, and local tax filings to ensure accuracy and compliance
Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide forward-looking recommendations
Serve as a primary advisor to clients, addressing complex issues and anticipating future needs

Leadership & Team Development

Supervise and mentor managers and staff, fostering professional growth and accountability
Oversee engagement planning, staffing, and budgeting to ensure efficient execution
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations
Promote a collaborative, high-performance team environment

Technical Oversight & Quality Control

Maintain current knowledge of tax regulations and industry developments
Perform detailed reviews of returns and supporting documentation
Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and regulatory requirements
Drive process improvements and support adoption of technology solutions

Firm Leadership & Growth Initiatives

Contribute to recruiting, training, and strategic planning efforts
Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and service offerings
Participate in networking and business development activities
Collaborate with leadership on departmental and firm-wide objectives

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
Master’s in Taxation or similar advanced degree preferred
Active CPA license required
10+ years of progressive public accounting experience
3+ years in a leadership or senior management role
Strong expertise in partnership, corporate, and individual taxation
Experience with multi-state and consolidated tax filings
In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax regulations

Technical Skills

Proficiency with CCH Axcess (required)
Experience with workflow and engagement tools (e.g., XCM, Engagement)
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
